It's Time to Move!

There is no more room on Earth. Our school has been told that we must move to another planet. Choose one planet that we can move our school to. You must convince the rest of the students to move to a planet that you have choosen. Write an essay to persuade your friends to move the school to the planet you have choosen.

First Step:
Read about your planet and make a list of at least 7 factsin Kidpiration. ALL facts have to have a reference!

Second Step:
Create a Kidspiration outline for your three paragraph essay. Make sure that all references are listed at the end of your paragraphs.

Third Step:
Write a persuasive essay. Convince the class that your planet is the best choice for the school.

First paragraph
What is the problem? What planet did you chose? Why should we move to your planet (opinion)?
Second paragraph
Tell us some important facts at least three, THAT WOULD MAKE US WANT TO MOVE THERE! Be creative and use your imagination with each fact. For example: There is a lot of ice on the planet, so we can go ice skating during recess. End the paragraph with an opinion.
Third paragraph
Simply retell the main points (being careful not to restate them exactly) from the first paragraph or briefly describe your FEELINGS about the topic.

Fourth Step: Check the following,

IDEAS - My paper is about one main idea. Yes or No

ORGANIZATION - I have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Yes or No

WORD CHOICE - I used uncommon words. Yes or No

VOICE - I wrote from one point of view. Yes or No

SENTENCE FLUENCY - I mix longer, compound, and complex sentences with shorter ones. Yes or No

CONVENTIONS - I used capitals at the beginning of my sentences and with proper nouns. Yes or No
Each sentence begins and ends with correct punctuation, and I have spelled almost all of my words correctly. Yes or No

PRESENTATION I put the same space between all of my words. Yes or No
I used the correct margin on the top, bottom, and sides of my paper. Yes or No
I indented the beginning of each paragraph. Yes or No
I have appropriately illustrated my paper. Yes or No

fifth Step:
Print out 6+1 checklist and check a partner's paper. Make sure that you and your partner sign it! 6+1 Check List

Six Step:
Draw a picure of the school on your planet. Think about some of the facts your read about and try to include them in your picture.
